Park City, UT is a favorite winter destination for us for a few reasons:
Lot of flight options in and out of SLC Airport.
Easy (and fast) transport to the slopes - you can fly into SLC and be on the slopes on the same day!
Family friendly activities other than just skiing and snowboarding.
Great dining options on and off mountain.
Here are travel options and ideas based on my experience over the past 6 years visiting Park City, UT! This post will focus on lodging, lessons, transportation and ski gear.
Accommodations in Park City, UT
YotelPAD at The Canyons
Great location, steps away from Canyons Village
Ski butler next to the pool made managing gear super easy!
Game room and separate lounge room for relaxing
Grand Summit Hotel at The Canyons
Great location
Spacious rooms
Chic Park City Condo at Park City Mountain base
Steps to ski at Park City Mountain
Booked on Airbnb, host was superb
Spacious, well appointed and comfortable for a family
Walkable to dining, restaurants, and Fresh Market (grocery store)
Lot of other options are available, these are 3 that we have used and would stay again.
Transportation
Because Park City is so close to SLC Airport, we don't get a rental car. We use Ubers as the cost for Ubers for the week roughly equal the cost of a rental car (without the stress of a rental).
There are a few caveats:
We use Uber to get from SLC airport to Park City and use Ubers while in Park City.
Transport from Park City to SLC Airport:
Getting back to the airport can be tricky if you are flying out early and need pick up in Park City at 4:15 am.
Call Morning Star Transportation & Limo/United Brothers Express. They will happily pick you and your crew up at 4:15 am and get you to the airport in a safe, warm large SUV. We have used them 2x now for this early morning service and will absolutely use their services again - I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Ski Gear Rentals
We used Canyon Mountain Rentals at The Canyons and Legacy Rentals at Park City Mountain. Reserve your rentals online in advance so you can show up and get fitted properly. Plan for 60-75 minutes for a family of 5 to get fitted for gear. Don't forget to bring your socks for the fitting! But if you forget, they will have some you can buy.
Gear I had to buy on the mountain because I was desperate:
Glove liners to wear under my gloves
Hand and toe warmers
Save money and buy these items ahead of time!
Lessons
Book lessons WELL in advance and as soon as you know you are going skiing/snow boarding. The lessons sell out well in advance. Set a calendar reminder for yourself to book the lesson! I had to do this. The lesson booking did not open until mid-September so I had to set a reminder on my calendar to book the lesson so I would get the date and time I needed. If you have a new skier in the family, it is well worth the investment for a full day of lessons.
Hope you found this helpful! I will do a future post on dining and activities in Park City that we enjoyed and would recommend and activities we plan to do next time we go back!
